A conspiracy theory is an story or explanation for an event or situations which suggests a conspiracy has taken place. These conspiracies are best pitched when powerful or political groups are involved.

So the more incredible the theory, the more difficult it is to actually prove, conclusively that it is false. This of course applies to people who are would actually believe these sorts of theories. For those of us with a more realistic perspective the theorieies dont float ath the best of times. But for those more impressionable people the theories are irresistable.
